Thomas is an avid researcher with a focus on violin practice. Recently awarded a Presser Foundation grant, Thomas has presented his work on practice in the USA, Japan, and Poland. Having spoken at the International Conference for Music Perception and Cognition (Tokyo, 2023), and the International Symposium on Performance Science (Warsaw, 2023), Thomas is currently working on his second independent study into the contextual interference effect in high-level musicians, in conjunction with Dr Andrew Goldman and the Indiana University Music and Mind Lab.

Thomas and Dr Goldman’s research will appear in the Journal of Research in Music Education (USA) in 2025, with a pre-print appearing on Sage Journals in 2024. To view this publication, follow the link below or get in touch via the contact page.
